There are two main types of articles in the Tongan language. They are definite and indefinite articles. The ordinary definite articles are he and  e (the). For example: e hele’ (the knife) he tēpile (the table).  And there is also the emotional definite article si’i. For instance: si’i fa’ē (the mother). The ordinary indefinite article is ha (a or an). For example: ha hele (a knife). And the emotional indefinite article is si’a. For example: si’a fine’eiki (an old woman).
